The Israeli army has now arrested a man in the occupied West Bank allegedly involved in the murder of a shepherd boy. The teenager left a farm on April 11 to care for sheep. Shortly afterwards he was reported missing.
The army and police then launched a major search for the Israeli boy and set up roadblocks. Hundreds of citizens joined the search, but in vain. According to the military, the teenager was found dead on April 12 near a Palestinian village in the Ramallah region. His body therefore showed signs of violence. It was said that the 14-year-old had been murdered.
Palestinians are said to have confessed to the crime
According to the military, a 21-year-old Palestinian villager has now confessed to his involvement in the crime. The discovery of the teenager’s body has already led to attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian villages. Another person was killed in the clashes, according to the UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs. Numerous others were injured. Other sources even spoke of four murdered Palestinians, including a child. According to them, it is an act of revenge.
Violence is increasing
Violence in the West Bank has also increased since the start of the war in Gaza in October (see video above). At least 486 Palestinians have since been killed by the Israeli army or settlers. During the same period, nine Israelis were killed, including five members of the security forces. The West Bank has been occupied by Israel since 1967.
