More and more guest houses in Austria are empty. A similar development is also visible in supermarkets and shopping centers. In Burgenland, a non-profit housing cooperative has specialized in giving new life to building entities.
In 1988, a Billa branch was opened in Großpetersdorf in the Oberwart district. The company flourished, attracting more and more customers and expanding twice. However, at a certain point the restaurant became too small and no longer met the requirements. That is why the retail chain built a new branch four years ago, more than twice as large and including a large parking lot, in the immediate vicinity of the previous location. The old building has been empty ever since.
