A chief surgeon at UKH Salzburg is said not only to have shouted at colleagues, but also to have left patients behind during the operation. This comes in response to an anonymous complaint. But: There will be no criminal proceedings against the primary, according to the judiciary.
As the “Krone” reported, several doctors and ex-employees of the Salzburg Accident Hospital have made serious accusations against the head of the department of orthopedics and traumatology.
A “climate of fear”
The primary school doctor and military doctor allegedly shouted at employees several times and treated them roughly. Former colleagues in the ‘Krone’ interview describe him as a ‘real narcissist’. The doctors summarized that this created a climate of fear and not respect. While the hospital operator, the General Accident Insurance Institute (AUVA for short), has already announced that it will split from Primary and its successor, new, explosive allegations are now emerging: according to an anonymous complaint, Primary is also said to have treated patients in a questionable manner .
In detail, it describes an incident in the operating room in mid-October 2022: A patient lay sedated on the operating table with his back open when the lead surgeon simply left the room – apparently he had to leave the patient unattended because of having an online training course. Another doctor, who was already off duty, had to step in and make a special trip.
AUVA checks
The incident has no criminal consequences, explains Ricarda Eder of the Public Prosecution Service in Salzburg: “The charges are time-barred.” The AUVA wants to investigate the allegations and inform you soon about further steps.
