The discussion about the Corona relief fund of the Lower Austrian state government has flared up in recent days. As reported, Carinthian anti-vaccination activist Martin Rutter wanted to get a big bite of the financial pie. According to the information from “Krone”, there will probably be no payouts to him and his club structure.
The Carinthian ex-politician had founded about twenty clubs throughout Lower Austria – and apparently wanted to use them to get the money from the Corona fund. After the publication of the remarkable ‘Association Register’, the political discussion flared up.
Criticism from Health Minister Rauch
Health Minister Johannes Rauch also intervened and criticized the Lower Austrian approach.
“A raised finger from Vienna is not enough”
Matthias Zauner, regional manager of the People’s Party of Lower Austria, emphasizes in the direction of the Minister of Green Health: “It is not enough to point the raised index finger at schoolmasters from the office of the Minister of Vienna, because as Minister of Health he is of course primarily responsible for the Schwurbler casserole in Austria. Rauch fails to provide vaccination information, otherwise such clubs could not exist due to lack of supporters! Vaccination information does not mean advertising for the pharmaceutical industry or academic nonsense, but rather credible, factual and understandable information at eye level. The minister has been completely invisible until now. It has gotten to the point where many people still believe that Rauch is a fruit juice and not a minister!”
24 clubs founded in Lower Austria
The point of contention is Rutter’s association based in Carinthia, which is said to have established at least 24 branches in districts and statutory cities in Lower Austria. The fund supports a maximum of three projects per organization, each with a maximum of 5,000 euros.
According to the spokesperson of the responsible state council, Christoph Luisser (FPÖ), several applications from Rutter’s clubs have been approved. No money has flowed yet. The final disbursement of funding will only take place after a final check to ensure all requirements have been met and there is no multiple funding, the report said.
“What Lower Austria certainly does not support are events in which conspiracy theories are spread,” said Lower Austrian Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner. “In Lower Austria, every payout is thoroughly checked. And of course I also expect that in this specific case.”
