They did terrible things, killed other people. They clubbed, stabbed and shot. Three convicted murderers speak about ‘Crown Crimes’. About their actions. About the before, the after. And about her now.

The fact that a person can be capable of killing another is something I didn’t understand before. Even much smaller crimes, like shoplifting or burglary, seemed completely absurd to me. In general: I couldn’t empathize with the mental lives of perpetrators, and I didn’t even want to. For a long, long time.

Until I committed a crime myself at the age of 42; not just any, not just a minimal violation. But a very bad one. The worst possible. I killed. My friend’s lover; I killed this man and set his corpse on fire. Back in December 2001…
