A 44-year-old Viennese resorted to an ax and machete to scare off potential attackers during a local brawl in Windischgarsten on Saturday evening. About seven people got into an argument and started fighting. When the Viennese then went to his car and grabbed the cutting weapons, the opponents fled.
Around 4:20 a.m. on Saturday, Windischgarsten police were called to a bar due to a dangerous threat involving a machete and axe. Upon arrival there was no one to be found. The telephone report showed that the unknown man had fled in a car. A search was immediately initiated by several patrols and was positive.
Arrested without resistance
The 44-year-old driver from Vienna was arrested without resistance in his room by a patrol around 6 a.m. The machete and ax were found in his car. When interrogating the victims and the 44-year-old, it turned out that a fight had previously taken place between 6 and 7 people in and therefore in front of the restaurant. However, the Viennese was not involved at all.
I wanted to defend myself with it
Nevertheless, the 44-year-old retrieved the machete and ax from his vehicle but did not actively threaten anyone. As a result, everyone who had previously struggled with each other fled on foot. The 44-year-old said he wanted to use it to defend himself in the event of a possible attack. Because he had also driven drunk, his driver’s license was temporarily revoked. He will be reported to the district administration and the public prosecutor.
