A nightmare became reality for a driver on the Autobahn near Vorchdorf: while driving, sparks flew from his car and the car caught fire.
The 65-year-old Salzburger drove his car on Whit Monday shortly before 1 a.m. on the A1 motorway from Vienna in the direction of Salzburg. At a gas station there he saw sparks on his rear tire, so he left the autobahn in Vorchdorf and stopped immediately after a roundabout.
Due to technical defects, the BMW X6 immediately caught fire. When the police arrived, the entire car was on fire. The fire service who arrived on the scene quickly brought the fire under control. Fortunately no one was injured.
