Dramatic incident at a mountain hut in the Carinthian district of Spittal an der Drau: an explosion occurred while the truck’s batteries were being checked for its photovoltaic system. The wounded man made his way into the valley.
The 49-year-old wanted to routinely check the acid level of two truck batteries in his mountain hut in Großkirchheim. The man used this as a storage medium for his photovoltaic installation. And so he loosened the battery filler screws. Until one suddenly exploded due to handling for an unknown reason!
Despite his injuries, the 49-year-old independently alerted the emergency services with his mobile phone and even drove his car to pick them up from the mountain hut 1,300 meters above sea level to the valley station. Where he received first aid from an emergency doctor who was already waiting and was then flown to the hospital by rescue helicopter.
