Terrible accident Tuesday morning in the Tyrolean lowlands: A head-on collision occurred between two cars on the B178 Loferer Straße near Kirchbichl. A 65-year-old local woman and a Portuguese couple were seriously injured as a result of the violent clash.
The fatal traffic accident took place around 7 a.m. For unknown reasons, a Portuguese man (49) drove his car into the opposite lane on the B178 near Kirchbichl and collided head-on with the car of a 65-year-old Austrian woman.
Driver and passenger seriously injured
The force of the collision seriously injured the local man, the Portuguese man and his passenger of the same age. After initial care, the accident victims were taken by ambulance to the Kufstein and St. Johann hospitals.
National highway closed for 1.5 hours
“Both vehicles were totaled,” police said. While the accident was being recorded and clean-up work was being carried out, the B178 at the accident site was completely closed for approximately one and a half hours.
