Strange operation for the fire brigade on Tuesday morning in Kufstein in Tyrol: When an 83-year-old local resident wanted to combat weeds with a hot air gun, a hedge initially caught fire. The flames then spread to the neighbor’s car.
Around 10:45 a.m., the 83-year-old was removing weeds from the entrance to her home with a heat gun. Weeds suddenly caught fire right next to a hedge.
The elderly woman tried to extinguish the fire, but was unable to do so. The flames then spread to the hedge and the neighbor’s car.
Fight the flames with a garden hose
“Residents were able to keep the fire somewhat under control with a garden hose before the alerted fire brigade was able to completely extinguish the fire a short time later,” police said.
A blessing in disguise: no one was injured. The extent of the material damage caused cannot yet be quantified.
