Alarm in Leoben: On Tuesday afternoon a gas leak was discovered in an apartment building – there was a major fire brigade operation! The residents and surrounding houses were evacuated.
Around 3 p.m., during a routine inspection of an apartment building, a gas leak was noticed in one of the apartments. Because the measurement of the gas value showed that the standard value was exceeded many times, all residents of the affected home and the immediately adjacent apartment buildings in the danger zone were evacuated. Detailed investigation revealed that a defective gas boiler was the cause of the gas leak.
In the evening the all-clear was given
Following successful action by the fire brigade, all parties were able to return to their homes and the short-term road closures were lifted at 4.30pm.
