On Wednesday evening, sixteen Amazon vans burned in Berlin. According to initial findings, authorities suspect arson. Witnesses reported several masked people at the crime scene. In addition, four people were arrested at gatherings in the German capital for, among other things, lighting fireworks.
A spokeswoman for the Berlin police said on Wednesday that “colored eggs” were also occasionally thrown. A total of 3,100 police officers were deployed to the five rallies in the capital during what was known as Walpurgisnacht. They were attacked sporadically, but remained unharmed until midnight.
Fire in commercial parking lot
There was another riot at an Amazon commercial parking lot in Berlin-Wittenau. Sixteen vans caught fire in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The fire brigade extinguished the fire, but the vehicles are probably beyond saving. Initial findings indicate arson. There are said to have been several masked people in the vans.
A connection with the demonstrations could not initially be established. According to information from “Bild”, the so-called Black Bloc disappeared at an intersection and never appeared again.

On Tuesday evening there were also protests against capital and patriarchy in other German cities, such as Hamburg. According to police, the feminist demonstration remained peaceful, apart from ‘a few Bengalos and smoking pots’.
Left-wing demonstrations are again planned for Wednesday, May 1, with twenty different events in Berlin alone. Thousands of participants are expected.
