About 50 emergency services from various emergency services searched for an 82-year-old hunter who had disappeared on Tuesday evening.
The 82-year-old’s absence was reported to the police in Hermagor at 8:44 PM on Monday. “Around 5 p.m. he walked alone from the hunting lodge ‘Gemauerte Hütte’, at approximately 1,400 meters altitude, towards the valley and did not arrive home,” an officer describes the incident report. A large contingent of helpers – including mountain rescuers, sniffer and search dogs, helicopters and even drones – immediately rushed to the scene in the Zuchengraben (Graslitze) area near Förolach. “The area is steep and strewn with rocks,” police said, explaining how demanding the search was.
Search canceled due to weather conditions
Hours passed, emergency services even searched for the missing fighter for days – without success. “The search that started on Tuesday was negative and had to be called off at 4 p.m. on Wednesday due to bad weather,” police said. There has been no trace of the 82-year-old for more than 48 hours.
