Without her three employees, the Piano Spring would not be possible, says Barbara Faulend-Klauser, who can be found in her office in the town hall every Monday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. What sounds mundane has something extra: the dedicated director celebrated her 98th birthday in January!
Let’s put it all together: the fact that Deutschlandsberg has secured its place on the musical map is solely due to the tireless efforts of Barbara Faulend-Klauser. In 1971, the trained pianist took over the management of the music school and the following year she founded the cultural group Deutschlandsberg. And not only brought her good friend Elisabeth Leonskaya to fantastic piano concerts, but also greats such as Sviatoslaw Richter, Paul Badura-Skoda, Leonid Brumberg and Oleg Maisenberg.
