One person was killed and several seriously injured in a shootout in a Paris suburb on Saturday evening. The shots were fired shortly before midnight on Friday evening in a hotspot area of the Sevran suburb.
When police arrived on the scene, investigators said four injured people were lying on the ground. Rescue workers provided first aid, but could not save the life of a seriously injured person.
Three seriously injured
The three others were taken to various hospitals in the Paris area with life-threatening injuries. During the night, three more people were treated for gunshot wounds at the hospital in Aulnay-sous-Bois, a neighboring town to Sevran.
Presumably a settlement in the drug world
The Paris police have started an investigation into intentional murder and attempted intentional murder by an organized gang. According to initial findings, the gunman got out of a car in a parking lot, fired several shots and then fled with the driver of the car. No arrests were initially made. Sevran Mayor Stephane Blanchet says he believes a reckoning is underway in the drug community.
