More than ten months after the home invasion on July 17, 2023, of former state councilor and entrepreneur Josef Fill and his family in Gurten (Upper Austria), charges have been filed against three of the suspects. However, researchers think there could be one or two more.
The two main suspects, a North Macedonian (44) and a German-Kazakh (43), will have to answer for the crime of aggravated robbery. The North Macedonian has nine previous convictions and is also under investigation in Germany for aggravated robbery. And his alleged German-Kazakh accomplice also has eleven relevant criminal convictions to his name in his home country.
Posttraumatic stress disorder
Josef Fill suffered a fracture of the metacarpal bone and his wife and daughter were diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, according to the public prosecutor’s office in Ried im Innkreis.
The third suspect, a man from Innviertel (28), is said to have been the informant of the perpetrator who ordered the home burglary.
The trial date has not yet been set, but a trial is expected before the summer. The two main perpetrators face between five and fifteen years in prison.
