Sequel to the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old in the Viennese countryside, which in its origins evokes memories of the tragic Leonie case. The child went to their apartment with two young men (then 17 and 22) in November 2022. Both suspects had unprotected sexual intercourse with the minor, who was severely impaired by drug use.
It is difficult to stomach what is presented during the trial before the regional court in Vienna. A girl just 13 years old, a heavy drug user, meets a 17-year-old and a 22-year-old Serbian in the park and wants to burn a joint.
The two young men allow the girl to accompany her to their apartment. The mother of the youngest boy is also at home. In the room of the first suspect, both had unprotected sexual intercourse with the minor one after the other. They also allegedly consumed cocaine and marijuana together with the girl. “They knew she was underage. But you didn’t care,” the prosecutor says in his plea.
‘I’m embarrassed’
The suspects deny this: “When I found out she was only 13, it was a shock to me. I thought she was 15, 16 or 17,” the second defendant said. He states that he was so severely disabled that he hardly remembers what exactly happened. ‘I can’t believe I slept with that kid. I am ashamed of it,” says the suspect, who has six previous convictions to his name. “I was just looking for people to hang out with.”
The victim’s concerned sister searched for the missing person using a cell phone tracking app and eventually rang the 17-year-old’s door. She found the frail 13-year-old, who weighed just 35 kilograms, severely disabled: “She even had trouble putting on her shoes.”
The 17-year-old’s mother allegedly lied to police
The second defendant pleads guilty to sexual abuse, including for giving the victim marijuana. The younger man pleads ‘not guilty’ to sexually assaulting a minor, as does his mother, who is accused of making false statements to police. She stated that she did not know the second defendant, although he had been a good friend of her son for years. “She told the police about a Mohammed from the park who didn’t have a cell phone,” the prosecutor told the jury.
The second defendant, who has already committed robberies, traffic accidents under the influence of drugs, order fraud and forged documents, plays down the contact with the girl: “It is nothing new that girls of that age smoke joints and use drugs,” he says . say. Pending the verdict, the presumption of innocence applies.
