Traffic chaos on Monday morning on the Inntal highway in Tyrol! Near Wattens (Innsbruck-Land district) a truck left a fuel trail that had to be immediately removed by the fire brigade. The A12 therefore had to be completely closed in the direction of Kufstein. The result was a traffic jam of about ten kilometers long.
Patience was required from around 6:30 am on Monday on the Inntal motorway from Innsbruck towards Kufstein. Shortly after the Wattens exit, a truck – driven by a 52-year-old Austrian – lost hundreds of liters of diesel due to a ruptured tank. “On the driveway, the driver heard a dull bang and the truck stopped on the emergency lane. When he checked the truck, he found that the diesel tank was damaged and diesel was leaking,” police said
Delays also on alternative routes
A large contingent of fire brigade, police and ASFINAG responded immediately. In order to close the fuel trail, the highway towards Germany had to be completely closed. Cars were diverted near Wattens, but there was still a traffic jam as far as Hall-West. Naturally, there were some delays in the Wattens region. After about two hours, both lanes were open again.
