Outdoor enthusiasts are increasingly being attacked out of the blue by hawks, buzzards and even aggressive crows. But why? And how do you behave correctly?
Recently, the description of a young jogger near Wieselburg in the Mostviertel in Lower Austria caused a stir. With a shrill cry, a buzzard attacked her first from the front and then on the back of her head. The woman struggled to fend off the terrifying attack and jogged to safety. The scene is somewhat reminiscent of the Hitchcock thriller ‘The Birds’. In this horror classic, seagulls pounce on children. However, Hollywood gives no reason for the bird attacks.
However, Dr. Klaus Hackländer is ready. He is a professor of wildlife biology and game management at the Vienna University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences.
