After a traffic accident in Sollenau (Lower Austria), several weapons were locked in a car. The driver was believed to be under the influence of drugs. The 33-year-old has been convicted of multiple offences. He’s in custody. The man, like the 18-year-old license plate holder of the car, both from the Neunkirchen district, was stopped as part of a manhunt.
The car involved in the accident was discovered early Monday morning. According to the state police, the car was partially in the Piesting riverbed. Initially, there was no trace of the occupants. Three rifles, a flare pistol, a knife and ammunition were found in the salvage of the car. The license plate holder and the driver were arrested early in the morning in Felixdorf (Wiener Neustadt district). According to the police, the man, who is believed to have been affected by addictive substances, refused to be examined by a doctor.
Possible involvement in other crimes
Due to further investigation, the 33-year-old is now suspected of having threatened a 21-year-old acquaintance in his apartment in Ternitz (Neunkirchen district) with a knife on May 12 and demanded that he hand over a gun, but the victim had no longer owns it. The suspect is said to have stolen a mobile phone, an e-scooter and identity cards. No complaint has been filed, police said.
Gun ban already in effect
The man is also accused of stealing firearms in Grafenbach-St. Valentin (Neunkirchen district) just a day later. The loot was secured in the car that had an accident in Sollenau on Whit Monday. The Lower Austrian was also assigned the possession and sale of narcotics in the first half of 2020. Police said the 33-year-old was already under a gun ban.
The man was transferred to the prison of Wiener Neustadt. The 18-year-old is reporting criminal offenses under the Narcotics Act.
