A 38-year-old man was seriously injured in an accident with his paraglider in Vorarlberg on Sunday. Vorarlberg police said the man fell on a steep slope shortly after the start at Ludescherberg (Bludenz district).
To the hospital with an emergency doctor
A passerby heard the seriously injured man’s cries for help and provided first aid. After receiving initial treatment from the emergency physician, the 38-year-old was flown by helicopter to Feldkirch State Hospital.
Two paragliding pilots had an accident in Vorarlberg this weekend. The glider of a 57-year-old suddenly collapsed on Saturday afternoon after taking off from Bezau (Bregenzerwald) at a height of 15 to 20 meters. After his crash, the man was also taken by helicopter to Feldkirch State Hospital.
Injuries to the lumbar spine
Already around noon, a 32-year-old paraglider had to make an emergency landing on the Walmendinger Horn near Mittelberg (Kleinwalsertal) after being hit by a gust of wind shortly after take-off. While attempting to land, his glider got stuck between trees and he fell from a height of about four meters. According to police, the pilot suffered injuries to his lumbar spine.
