A 15-year-old German confessed to killing his classmate (14) with a shot to the head. The crime took place last September and the youngster has been in court since May 3 (see video above).
On Monday, student Valerio had a statement read by his defense. The shot was not planned but arose out of the situation, the report said. As reported, the 15-year-old killed 14-year-old Italian Francesco last September with a shot from a pistol on the grounds of a school in Lohr am Main, Franconia. The two attended the same high school in the small town of Lohr am Main (Bavaria).
Motive still unclear
Initially nothing was known about the possible motive. The Public Prosecution Service assumes that the German worships the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. There is a Netflix series about him. Accordingly, Valerio would have committed the crime only to kill someone – that is, out of a desire to kill. Last year there was a dispute over borrowed money.
Because the suspect is a minor, the law requires a trial behind closed doors. The trial started on May 3. For murder, the maximum juvenile sentence is ten years; preventive detention is possible under strict conditions. The murder weapon, a nine-millimeter Ceska CZ 75 pistol, belonged to a 66-year-old who lived in the same house as the suspect. However, it is not yet publicly known how exactly the teenager obtained the weapon.
