The Salzburg Public Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges against a violent and criminal Somali. The charges: murder and attempted murder. New details reveal just how brazen the 27-year-old acted.
Somalian Ahmed A. (27) is unemployed, homeless and has six previous convictions; the violent defendant now faces life behind bars. The Public Prosecution Service accuses him of murder and attempted murder.
Ahmed was “very angry”
It was February 1, 2024 – Ahmed A. had only left prison two months ago and reached an acquaintance’s apartment in the Lehen district of Salzburg around 11 p.m. Alcohol flowed. And: “Ahmed was very angry.”
Outside, on Schießstattstrasse near Lehener Park, things escalated: According to the Public Prosecution Service, the “very angry” Somali man took out a 20 centimeter long kitchen knife and started chasing his compatriot Hussin M. (34). Witnesses observed the fatal attack: A. stabbed the victim ‘three times from top to bottom’. One stab in the head, one in the chest and one in the back.
The second victim was able to run away from the knife attacker
Meanwhile, another Somali shouted. Ahmed A. turned to his second victim – a cat-and-mouse game of life and death ensued. The fleeing Somali was able to keep Ahmed A. at bay several times, including with the help of parked cars.
More stabs in the back
After a while, the suspect let go, went back to Hussin M., who was lying on the ground, and stabbed him again in the back. So strong that the handle broke off and the blade got stuck in the body. The arrest followed hours later. During the interrogation, Ahmed A. again showed his violent side: out of nowhere he punched a prison guard in the face.
Two days later he also attacked a second guard. He remained silent about the accusations. He doesn’t know why he killed and mentions gaps in his memory. The criminal with an antisocial personality opened up to the neuropsychiatrist and explained: he “smelled blood”. There is no trial date yet.
