A large police force is currently deployed in the center of Linz. A bomb threat was reportedly received at the Academic High School on Spittelwiese. The Matura work currently taking place had to be interrupted.
The school is currently being evacuated. Little is known about the background at this time. All available troops were sent to the city center. Bomb sniffing dogs and Cobra are in action.
The Matura exams for Croatian, Hungarian, Slovenian and Spanish were due to take place at the high school on Wednesday, but were interrupted after the threat was received shortly before 10am that morning. The students were taken to the promenade park near the Linzer Landhaus.
Currently, everything has been cordoned off over a large area and the residents of neighboring houses have been asked to stay in their homes with the help of a megaphone. The Upper Austrian Sparkasse building on the boulevard has also been evacuated.
