According to its own statement, the Russian army has captured two more cities in northeastern Ukraine. The Defense Ministry in Moscow said troops had taken control there.
They also advanced into the southern region of Zaporizhia and captured a city there as well. Only on Tuesday did the Russian Defense Ministry report the capture of a village in the Kharkov region of northeastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian General Staff described the situation as “still difficult” (see video above). To prevent the enemy from breaking through, reinforcements were sent to the Kharkov region.
Pavel: “We must stop the war”
Czech President Peter Pavel has now warned against unrealistic expectations in the war against Russia. “It would be naive to believe that Ukraine will be able to fully regain control of its territory in the near future,” the former Chief of the General Staff said. The war enemy would not give up the occupied territories. “What we have to do is stop the war.” A new agreement can then be negotiated.
The US government announces aid
The US government announced that it would again make two billion dollars available to the warring country for military purposes. “We are working to ensure that Ukraine can prevail on the battlefield today,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said during his visit to Kiev. The people have the right to decide their own future.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has canceled his visit to Spain, scheduled for Friday, due to the situation at the front. The visit to Portugal is also cancelled. “Volodymyr Zelensky has given instructions to postpone all international events in which he is involved in the coming days,” his spokesman Serhiy Nykyforov said on Wednesday. New dates must be found for the canceled trips.
