The Ukrainian army is increasingly experiencing problems in the Kharkiv region due to the Russian offensive. According to their own statement, the troops have already withdrawn from some villages. President Volodymyr Zelensky has now canceled his planned visits to Spain and Portugal.
Ground troops “moved to more favorable positions” in response to enemy fire and attacks, the Ukrainian military said. Russian forces reported on Monday the capture of another village in the region.
The city of Kharkiv, which is only about 30 kilometers from the border with Russia, has also come under increasing fire in recent months. The Russian troops took up positions and the city was largely destroyed. The Ukrainian government has now sent reinforcements to the area to prevent the war enemy from breaking through.
Is Russia on the verge of a breakthrough?
The army “will not allow the Russian occupiers to gain a foothold,” it said. The situation is “still difficult” (see video above). Russian soldiers launched a new offensive in the border area last week and occupied several villages in Ukraine. Now it’s a matter of preventing the front from expanding.
In response to the daily shelling, Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on Russian territory. The main targets are energy systems and fuel storage facilities that are to be used to supply the enemy. Recently, a fuel depot in the southern city of Rostov was attacked with drones and missiles. The area is home to the military headquarters of the Russian Armed Forces. According to initial information, no one was injured.
