Three people were killed in a terrifying plane crash in the US state of Tennessee on Wednesday. “It appears the plane disintegrated in mid-air,” said police spokesman Mark Elrod of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
According to American media, the first emergency call came in around noon due to the sound of an explosion and the discovery of aircraft parts. There were three occupants aboard the machine, which the U.S. Transportation Safety Board said was a Beech V35. According to the police, the cause of the accident is unclear.
Rescuers who arrived at the suspected crash site near Franklin, south of Nashville, the Tennessee capital, quickly realized it was not a rescue operation but a search and rescue operation, according to local broadcaster Fox17.
The rubble was widely scattered
The plane had taken off from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was en route to Louisville, Kentucky. Emergency services closed several streets because rubble was widespread in the area. Several residents reported to the police about wreckage they found on their property. Obviously nothing else was damaged.
