From July 1, 2024, anyone who has turned 18 since January 1 of this year and is registered in Austria can request a free climate ticket.
Minister of Climate Protection Leonore Gewessler, mobility expert POINT&, Lina Mosshammer and the President of the Federal Youth Representation Council, Rihab Toum, presented the free climate ticket for 18-year-olds at Vienna’s main station on Thursday.
Gewessler at the press conference: “At a stage of life in which all kinds of major decisions have to be made and the mobility of the rest of life is also affected. I am happy when many young people decide to protect the climate sustainably and use public transport through our offer. Because they realized: traveling in public is convenient, easy and practical.”
No difference with the paid ticket
It is a full climate ticket that covers all public transport in Austria – no difference from the paid ticket. It is valid for one year.
