Pentecost trips – huge traffic jams are approaching the municipalities of Salzburg

Date:

Traffic clubs warn, residents of neighboring communities are alarmed. The communities along the Tauern highway are preparing for the convoy of holidaymakers heading south ahead of the Pentecost weekend – despite departures being blocked.

Transport clubs are already talking about the busiest travel weekend of the year. Traditionally, there are always traffic jams on the way south at Pentecost. Only the tunnel construction site on the Tauernautobahn (A10) between Golling and Werfen will slow down the metal column to the south this year.

“Road maintenance work” in Golling
The communities along the A10 have already tried several times to protect themselves from holidaymaker traffic, the “Krone” reports. The measures often brought only limited success. The country’s exit bans only helped if they were monitored. The most effective measures were local roadblocks in communities. Around Pentecost, “Road maintenance work” will be carried out again in Golling. They are intended to keep traffic in the center of the street.

The mayor of Hallein, Alexander Stangassinger (SPÖ), is already waiting for the traffic collapse. The city boss continues to demand police checks on the A10 exits. He and his city police have their hands tied.
