Motocross rider seriously injured police officers while trying to escape

Date:

A 19-year-old from the Spittal district of Carinthia rode an illegal motocross machine on Sunday evening. When a police officer tried to check on him, he tried to escape.

It was already 3:38 am, but there were still a few people near Rennweg. The 19-year-old came to a stop in a pile with his motocross bike, which is not registered for traffic. “A 38-year-old police officer noticed this and wanted to prevent him from continuing his journey,” the police said. “He asked the motorcyclist several times to stop the motorcycle and get off.”

Fall while trying to escape
But the young man didn’t think about it and tried to escape. “The police officer used physical force to prevent the escape, causing both she and the motorcycle to fall,” police continue describing the incident. Both men were injured in the fall; other police officers immediately arrested the 19-year-old. “He was taken to the Klagenfurt clinic with undetermined injuries. He refused to take an alcohol test,” police said.

A 19-year-old is reported
The injured police officer is also receiving medical treatment. This could have consequences for the motorcyclist, as police describe the incident as “intentional serious bodily harm”. After the investigation is completed, he will be reported to the StA Klagenfurt.
