The premium unemployment benefit will be compatible with a salary and the subsidy will increase from 480 to 570 euros during the first six months.
The Council of Ministers will approve this Tuesday unemployment benefit reform signed between Ministry of Labor and CC. OO. and UGT on May 8 and with which Spain meets one of the milestones related to the fourth payment of the European fundsas confirmed by Pedro Sánchez government sources.
The reform of unemployment benefits aims to: increase in sections of the amount of this support, currently 480 euros per month; to expand the collective of beneficiariesand will allow compatible with a salary both the subsidy and the premium-related unemployment benefit, among other measures.
The reform, which will come into effect on a general basis in November This year it includes a number of new features compared to the proposal that Congress overthrew in January with the votes of PP, Vox and Podemos, such as the points referring to the compatibility of unemployment aid with a job.
In case of subsidythe maximum duration of which will remain 30 months, compatibility will apply for a maximum period of 180 days for any new full-time or part-time job, without reduction in the amount contributing benefitIf there are no last-minute changes to the text of the rule, it can be made compatible with a job after one year of benefits, provided that the salary does not exceed 225% of the IPrem (1,350 euros per month at the current IPrem). This measure, which was not included in the previous reform and which would in principle come into force from 2025, aims to prevent unemployment from becoming “entrenched”, as “major integration problems” will start to arise after that year.
The reform, which has not been signed by the CEOE and Cepyme, improves the amounts of the subsidies during the first twelve months of receipt, establishing three sections: the subsidy will amount to 95% of the IPrem during the first six months of the collection (570 euros per month with the current IPrem); 90% for the next six months (540 euros) and the current 80% for the rest of the duration of the benefit (480 euros).
Victims of gender or sexual violence aged 16 and over will now have access to the subsidy, as will returned emigrants, children under 45 without family responsibilities and temporary farm workers from across the state (about 200,000, according to union calculations).
