“Ireland and Norway intend to send a message today to the Palestinians and the entire world: terrorism is worth it,” Israel said in a statement.
After the announcement by Norway, Ireland and Spain that they will recognize on May 28 Palestine as a stateThe response from the government of Israel is not long in coming. Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz, has requested consultation to the Israeli ambassadors to Ireland and Norway and warned Spain of the “serious consequences” of its decision.
“Ireland and Norway intend to send a message today to the Palestinians and the entire world: terrorism is worth it,” Kantz said in a statement. Recognizing Palestine would, he believed, be tantamount to “rewarding Hamas.”
For this reason, Katz today ordered the return to Israel of the Israeli ambassadors from Dublin and Oslo for “urgent consultations.”
The announcement by the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, came shortly after Israel released the statement, so the Israeli ambassador to Spain has not yet been called for consultations. However, Katz even warned that there will be “serious consequences” if Spain follows through on its intention to recognize a Palestinian state.
