On the sidelines of US President Joe Biden’s visit to Berlin, an unknown individual took action against a television team during their reporting. According to broadcaster RTL, a passerby on Potsdamer Platz tried several times to disrupt a live broadcast with insults and intimidation.
The unknown person made an aggressive impression during the incident, an RTL spokeswoman said. Immediately afterwards, the team notified the police.
The broadcaster has therefore forwarded all available photos and videos of the incident to the officials.
A Berlin police spokeswoman said media workers were being hindered during their work. She did not provide any further details about the incident.
During his visit, Biden praised Germany as the United States’ “closest and most important ally.”
Biden thanks Scholz for ‘friendship’
He thanked the government in Berlin for supporting Ukraine in its defense against Russia, but also for the fight against anti-Semitism and for a clear position towards Iran. Addressing German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, he said: “I would like to thank you for your friendship.”
