A woman was hit by an ICE train in Berlin on Wednesday evening and died. A toddler suffered serious injuries. It was still unclear in the evening how the accident could have happened.
According to current information, the Berlin police consider suicide likely. A large contingent of police, fire and rescue services attended the scene. The age of the woman and child was initially not disclosed. According to the fire brigade, two people were taken to hospital, including the child who was seriously injured.
On platform X there is talk of a tragic accident at Berlin Central Station. The fire brigade was on site from 6.30 pm and provided psychosocial support to 19 people.
