On Saturday morning (local time), unknown persons fired several shots at a Jewish girls’ school in the Canadian city of Toronto. According to police, the facade of the building has been damaged. “We will not ignore what happened here,” said Police Officer Paul Krawczyk.
According to police, the suspected perpetrators got out of a dark-colored car and fired shots at Bais Chaya Mushka Elementary School in the North York neighborhood. No one was injured in the incident Saturday morning. The motive for the crime is not yet known.
Politicians such as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Jewish associations have already labeled the act as anti-Semitic. Those responsible must be held accountable, Trudeau said. Ontario Premier Doug Ford called it a “blatant demonstration of anti-Semitism.”

The police expand their presence
Toronto police have announced they will increase their presence at schools and synagogues. In November, shots were fired twice at a Jewish school in Montreal within a week. There were no injuries then either.
