Two people and the perpetrator were injured in a knife attack in Feldkirch on Monday. During construction work in a single-family home, a resident grabbed a kitchen knife and attacked two workers. The injured victims fled to the forecourt to safety. The attacker barricaded himself in the house until the Cobra task force could overpower him with a Taser, Vorarlberg police confirmed a media report.
The two workers and the attacker were taken to different hospitals, the perpetrator was under police guard. He was also injured, but it is currently unclear whether this was due to the use of the Taser or a fall during the arrest. There is currently no information on the severity of the two victims’ injuries, police spokesman Fabian Marchetti said. The attack took place shortly before noon.
We are still at the beginning of the investigation. The forensic investigation and interviewing of witnesses are currently underway. There were other residents in the house at the time of the attack. The motive for the knife attack is completely unclear and is under investigation. The man will be questioned as soon as he is fit for questioning.
According to VOL.at, the resident was the son of the family. The Cobra therefore initially tried in vain to eliminate the perpetrator using pepper spray.
