After the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France follows. For Austrian cycling hero Felix Gall, the Tour de France, which starts on June 29 in Florence, is the declared highlight of the season. After returning from altitude training, the “Krone” spoke with the East Tyrolean climber about his travel plans.
Krone: You just returned from altitude training in the Spanish Sierra Nevada. How did it go there?
Felix Gall: It was super good. The weather was great, we didn’t have a drop of rain. I’ve worked a lot of hours.
What data did the cycle computer ultimately spit out?
I clocked 67:31 hours, covered 2,000 kilometers and climbed 45,500 meters. This creates a good basis for the tour.
You posted several photos in the snow on Instagram. As an enthusiastic hobby skier, have you ever borrowed skis?
The ski area was already closed. The first day the roads were still full of snow, later I was able to drive almost to the top at 3100 meters.
