Airports before they collapse – instead of wanting a vacation, there’s now flight frustration

Date:

Canceled flights, stranded luggage – many European airports are collapsing. The reasons are a blatant lack of staff and the desire to travel.

Even if you can only shake your head in disbelief – hardly anyone expected such a demand for air travel for the summer of 2022. That is why there is now simply a lack of staff. The result: the airports in Europe put a stop to it. Both Amsterdam and London-Gatwick only allow a limited number of travelers. Security guards checking travelers flying into the summer are missing at every turn, according to the airports involved. If no action is taken, queues will form. Means: Many travelers miss their flight.

Strike paralyzed Brussels airport
There are also problems in Brussels. Security personnel there went on strike on Monday, prompting the airport to cancel all departing flights yesterday. Only landing aircraft were still treated.

Suitcase chaos in London
A suitcase chaos caused problems at London’s Heathrow Airport: hundreds of pieces of luggage were piled up in Terminal 2 of the airport – a technical defect in the baggage claim at the terminal was apparently the cause. The airport operator apologized for the inconvenience during takeoff, but waiting for their luggage.

The AUA mother Lufthansa also expects to have to cancel flights. That could be necessary to stabilize air traffic in Europe, which is struggling with staff shortages and delays, said boss Carsten Spohr. Are we now threatened with a general collapse of air traffic? Because problems at airports always cause a chain reaction at other airports, it seems that way at the moment.

The passengers were stranded in Salzburg and Innsbruck
Holidaymakers in the west of the country experienced a small foretaste over the weekend. More than 600 people were stranded in Salzburg because their Eurowings flights were canceled at short notice. Eurowings also canceled a trip to Italian Calabria in Innsbruck on Sunday. The approximately 100 affected people depended on their tour operators. Some were organized on a special flight at short notice, the rest were finally able to take off on Monday after a diversion to Munich.
