A barn burned down in Söllingerwald in Lower Austria on Sunday night. 15 chickens housed in an adjacent barn died. Three others survived, the fire service reports.
It was possible to prevent the flames from spreading to a residential building and another barn with 20 cows. A total of ten fire brigades with 126 members were deployed.
Barn burnt down completely
Emergency services were called just before 1 a.m. When they got to the barn, it was already ablaze. The alarm level has therefore been raised to the highest category (B4), according to the fire service. The fire was finally extinguished in the early hours of the morning, after which a fire safety watch was set up. The cause of the fire was initially unknown.
