A paraglider from Linz fell 30 meters into steep and impassable terrain on the Feuerkogel in Ebensee shortly after take-off.
As has only now become known, a paraglider from Linz took off on Monday afternoon from the so-called “northern launch site” on the Feuerkogel in Ebensee at an altitude of about 1,600 meters. But just after the starting phase, the woman from Linz fell about 30 meters for a previously unknown reason and came to a stop in very steep terrain full of pine trees, reports the Ebensee mountain rescue service.
Eyewitnesses alerted rescuers
A team from the Ebensee Mountain Rescue Service and the Martin 3 emergency medical helicopter were sent to the scene of the accident because back injuries were suspected. After arriving at Feuerkogel, mountain rescuers from Ebensee descended to the victim in the steep terrain, who was already being treated by the emergency doctor from the rescue helicopter.
The stretcher in which the pilot was taken also had to be secured. The rescue was carried out by the emergency medical helicopter crew using a rope. The helicopter then took the paraglider to the hospital for further care.
