The “Burgenland Energie Independent Fan Club” will start on January 1, 2025. Until 2045, solar and wind energy will be supplied to members at 10 cents/kWh. No index adjustment takes place. Network costs will be reduced by 28 percent and taxes will be eliminated.
The federal government’s brake on electricity prices ends on January 31. At the same time, at the instigation of the Republic, network costs and energy taxes are being massively increased. “On average, every household has 450 euros in extra costs per year,” says Stephan Sharma, CEO of Burgenland Energie. “That’s not responsible.”
To alleviate these additional burdens, the “Burgenland Energie Independent Fan Club” was founded, which will begin its activities on January 1, 2025.
Contractual rate for rain and calm
Becoming a member is easy. Register at fcbe.at or return the completed information card, which will be delivered in the coming days. The monthly amount is 4 euros. What do you get for it? When the sun shines on Burgenland Energie’s panels or the wind turbines turn, FCBE members pay 10 cents per kilowatt hour for the electricity generated. This fixed price is guaranteed by the state for 20 years. In the event of rain or no wind, the contractual rate will be charged.
To reduce network rates through a fan club, Burgenland was divided into 19 regional energy communities, which are subordinate to the national community. This makes a reduction of 28 percent possible. Taxes have been completely abolished.
Now the attack can be controlled
According to club board member Philip Payer, 4,000 people from Burgenland have registered with FCBE so far. Sounds like little. But: “We didn’t do any advertising, just information events in the communities. “We are now at the stage where we can administratively handle the attack that we expect,” Payer said.
For Governor Hans Peter Doskozil, the fan club is a prestigious project: “No matter how electricity prices develop on the wholesale markets – in Burgenland they remain permanently cheap, stable and predictable.”
