The climate activists of the Last Generation also do not take a break on Window Day: they blocked the ring directly in front of the Parliament in Vienna on Friday morning.
Although there is significantly less to do on the streets of Vienna than on normal weekdays, the climate activists’ blockade again caused early morning traffic delays.
The message ‘Right to Survive’ was written in large letters on the activists’ posters. In addition, some of them had a DIN A4 document in their hands – these were probably duplicates of a complaint that the Last Generation had recently filed against the Austrian federal government.
The activists are calling on the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the government for deliberately endangering the public and to determine whether there are any criminal offenses under Austrian criminal law.
“Furthermore, it should also be examined whether the federal government should initiate investigations into the formation of a criminal organization through systematic and presumably agreed culpable violations of Austrian criminal law,” the document continues.
The police were on the scene with a large number of emergency services – and removed the activists from the road.
