The Spanish Ministry of Consumer Affairs has imposed sanctions on four discounters:Ryanair, Vueling, EasyJet and Volotea— a fine of 150 million euros for charging passengers for hand luggage, following complaints received by several consumer associations, including Facua, as reported by Cadena SER.

Sources from the Ministry of Consumer Affairs have confirmed that files were opened against four discounters in the summer of 2023 in response to the complaints received, to conduct investigations. practices considered insulting.

Among them was charging one supplement for the reservation of adjacent seats for coach minors and dependent persons; lack of transparency in pre-contractual information about the final price of the service; charging a extra for hand luggage of passengers, and cash payments at the airport are not allowed for these or other additional services.
