Hotel admissions in the Basque Country increased by 31% in July and overnight stays by 34.8%

Specifically, arrivals have increased by 31.2% and the number of overnight stays by 34.8%, according to data made public by Eustat. The residence of people of foreign origin has increased considerably.

According to data from the Basque Statistical Institute, in July 2022 the number of hotel guests in the Basque Autonomous Community increased by 31.2% and the number of overnight stays by 34.8% year on year.Eustat.

The total number of arrivals, which has risen to 383,186, has led to a total of 766,020 overnight stays. In July 2019, pre-pandemicthese numbers were
lower: 328,080 registrations and 692,414 overnight stays.

According to the latest data published by Eustat this Monday, 49.6% of total arrivals and 50.3% of overnight stays in July 2022 came from strange origin (in July 2021 they accounted for 33.0% of arrivals and 31.0% of overnight stays), after increasing the number of arrivals and overnight stays of people
of foreign descent reaching 97.2% and 118.9% respectively.

Both the registrations and the overnight stays of tourists from the Spanish stateon the other hand, decreased slightly year-on-year, by 1.4% and 3.0% respectively.

Arrivals and overnight stays are growing significantly in the three territories

13.5% of the bookings in the hotel branches in the month of July 2022 are registered in Alavain Biscay 45.4% and in Gipuzkoa 41.1%. The increases in the number of arrivals and overnight stays compared to the same month of the previous year were significant in the three historical areas.

In capital terms, the number of withdrawals has increased year-on-year by 47.5% in Bilbao, 27.9% in Vitoria-Gasteiz and 22.8% in San Sebastían. Similarly, the increase in overnight stays has increased to 47.3% in Bilbao, 35.8% in San Sebastián and finally 32.5% in Vitoria-Gasteiz
