A woman who disappeared on a cruise, whose fate has left Italy in disarray for years, has at least received judicial justice. Her 45-year-old husband was sentenced to 26 years in prison in Rome for the murder of his Chinese wife. It disappeared without a trace in the Mediterranean Sea in 2017.
His wife disembarked from the MSC Magnifica in Greece because she was tired of the cruise, the defense said. He wasn’t worried about it because she had done it before. However, the German was arrested in Italy when he wanted to fly to Ireland with his two children.
Woman spoke to psychologists beforehand
The man had always claimed that the 38-year-old had quietly and secretly left to start a new life. Before the cruise began, she had told a psychologist that she was “tired of her children” and “of Europe.” Nevertheless, the couple boarded the ship with both children on February 9, 2017.
The man allegedly threw his wife into the sea in a suitcase
According to Italian police, the Chinese woman was last seen on board on the second day. Because, according to the shipping company, his wife had not checked out but could no longer be found, the man was accused of murdering his wife on board and throwing him into the sea in a suitcase.
