Knife attack in Mannheim – Video calls for the murder of “every Islam critic”.

Date:

After the bloody knife attack at an event organized by the Islamist movement Pax Europa (BPE) in Mannheim (see video above), an arrest warrant was issued for the 25-year-old attacker. Meanwhile, there is new excitement over a video that has emerged on the internet glorifying the crime of the native Afghan.

A video that appeared on the online service Tiktok calls for the murder of “all ex-Muslims and every critic of Islam.” Moreover, according to the “Berliner Morgenpost”, the act of violence in Mannheim is celebrated by an Islamist who calls himself “Imam Meta” on the internet.

“I’ll send you money”
“Guys, finally some good news: this Stürzenberger has been stabbed. Inshallah the boy who stabbed him gets the highest level in paradise. I swear by Allah, I will send you money, my friend. I’ll send you money.’

In the video, the hate preacher repeatedly imitates stabbings, threatens to kill known ex-Muslims, the State of Israel and all critics of Islam, and insults a man as a ‘dirty Turk’.

Account and video deleted
His account can no longer be found on the short video portal. The video has now also been removed. As “Bild” reports, the man has been identified. The Baden-Württemberg State Police and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution are involved. The investigation is ongoing.

The Minister of the Interior announces tough measures
Baden-Württemberg’s Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) described the clip as “disgusting”. At the same time, he announced tough measures by the security authorities. “With us, crimes – especially murderous crimes – are punished with the full force of the law and not celebrated,” he emphasized in “Bild am Sonntag”. Such statements after such an act are “despicable, despicable and abhorrent,” Strobl added. The State Criminal Investigation Department has “already brought together IT investigators centrally for the ongoing investigations,” he added.

“Disgusting and inhumane”
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) also strongly condemned the published video. “Glorifying the murderous knife attack is disgusting and inhumane,” Faeser also told “Bild am Sonntag”. Anyone who does something like this must be prosecuted “with the full severity of criminal law,” the minister emphasized. “Our security authorities are continuously investigating this.”

The Mannheim attacker has lived in Germany since 2014
After the knife attack at an event organized by the Islamist movement Pax Europa (BPE) in Mannheim, an arrest warrant was issued for the 25-year-old attacker. He is charged with attempted murder, the Karlsruhe Public Prosecutor’s Office announced on Saturday. The man, born in Afghanistan, has lived in Germany since 2014. He is married, has two children and recently lived in Heppenheim, Hesse.

Six injured
The attacker wounded five members of the right-wing populist civil movement Pax Europa and a police officer on the market square in Mannheim around noon on Friday, seriously injuring the latter. The other injured are five men aged between 25 and 59, including three Germans, a German-Kazakh and an Iraqi national.

Injured police officer placed in medically induced coma
The police officer who was injured in the knife attack has now been placed in an induced coma. “His life is still in danger,” a spokesperson for the National Criminal Investigation Department said on Saturday. BPE board member Michael Stürzenberger, who was injured in the attack, spoke from the hospital on Saturday. “It was very close yesterday,” he wrote on Telegram.

Islam critic on the road to recovery after attack
Stürzenberger reported on Saturday that he had suffered multiple stab wounds, one of which in the thigh caused “significant blood loss.” He also suffered facial injuries. Stürzenberger thanked all the doctors involved and the facial surgeons “who came especially from a special clinic”. According to the organization’s treasurer, Stefanie Kizina, the attack specifically targeted Stürzenberger.

Shortly after the attack, a video of the crime circulated on the Internet: it shows the attacker stabbing several people and bystanders shouting: “Get rid of the knife!” You also see an officer shooting at the attacker. Several police officers then pushed the man to the ground. According to the police, the Public Prosecution Service and the National Criminal Investigation Department, only one shot was fired.

The knife attack caused widespread horror. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier condemned the act.

Austrian politics also responded to the attack
Reactions also came from Austria. ÖVP Chancellor Karl Nehammer spoke about gruesome images. “Incitement and radicalization lead to brutal acts of violence on the streets. Radicals are becoming more and more radical, in word and deed,” Nehammer wrote on Friday on X. For FPÖ Secretary General Christian Hafenecker, the attack in Germany is the result of a “failed asylum policy.” Gun ban zones and other show measures would achieve nothing, Hafenecker explained.
