Lost control – car crashes head-on into a tree: occupants seriously injured

Date:

Horrible traffic accident on Sunday evening in Jochberg in the Tyrolean district of Kitzbühel: a German (25) probably lost control of his car due to excessive speed, after which it crashed into the guardrail and ultimately into a tree. Four passengers were injured, most of them seriously.

The fatal accident happened shortly before 2:30 am. The 25-year-old German, accompanied by three compatriots aged 21, 23 and 25, was driving his car on the B161 Kitzbüheler Straße from Aurach towards Jochberg when he suddenly lost control.

Got off the road at a bend
“Presumably due to excessive speed, the car left the road in a bend to the right and crashed head-on into the guardrail and then into a tree,” the police report.

The steering wheel was trapped in the wreckage. “He had to be freed by the fire brigade using hydraulic rescue equipment. The three passengers were able to extricate themselves from the car,” investigators continued.

Passengers taken to hospital, car totaled
The 25-year-old and two other passengers were seriously injured, while the fourth companion suffered significant injuries. After receiving first aid at the scene of the accident, all four Germans were taken by ambulance to the district hospital St. Johann in Tirol. The car was total.

In addition to 40 firefighters, the rescue service, an emergency doctor and the police were also on site.
