Killing? – The captain of the container ship is arrested

Date:

The man who was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the dramatic accident in the North Sea is the captain of the container ship Solong. The Russian must now answers for negligent murder – a crew member of his ship is considered missing and is probably dead.

On Monday, the container ship collided with the 183 -meter -long oil -free stena Immacaced. The accident took place 20 kilometers from the coast of East Yorkshire. Crowley, the co -owner of the damaged oil tanker in Florida, said that the fire on board the ship “has largely decreased and there were no more flames visible”.

Collision with approximately 30 km/h
An American sailor who worked on the oil ride said that the huge container ship had appeared as “out of the blue” before it rammed in his anchor. Another sailor explained the BBC that the Solong had crashed in the Stena Immaculate with 16 knots (about 29 km/h).

“The arrested man is currently still in custody while the investigation is underway. We keep talking to all those involved to determine the full circumstances of the incident, “said the senior researcher, Craig Nicholson as an arrest. The shipowner confirmed that the 59-year-old captain was being arrested. “Out of respect for the investigation and everyone involved, we will not comment on this at the moment,” said the German company Ernst Russ.

The skipper actually bears the responsibility for a ship – this includes navigation and security on board. Both the captain and his crew would work together in the study, the shipping company continued. The family of the missing crew member is supported according to Ernst Russ.

After a large, twelve life operation with lifeboats, 36 people could be safely brought ashore. A sailor had to be taken to the hospital and there is no trace of a crew member.

Flames brought shortly after the crash
A sailor of the Stenna ammaculaten described the chaotic scenes on board. He only had a second to respond after he was called that he had to prepare before the devastating impact. The Solong went to his ship for ten minutes, while Flames immediately flared up, he added. All creemite members could be found intact on the oil brivers – shortly thereafter the team left the ship in a lifeboat, with the captain the last time. The evacuation lasted only about 30 minutes.

It is said that fog has made the view more difficult
According to “Independent”, the British government said that first investigations had not indicated that the incident was due to a crime. An expert told the newspaper that a computer reconstruction suggests that the blame for the accident at the Solong crew was. Abdul Khalique, head of the maritime center of Liverpool John Moores University, could have been inherent for poor visibility.

“But if the guards really had been bored with the radar, they would have recognized this immediate risk of collision and have taken measures to prevent a collision,” the specialist said. The head of Grimsby East of the port of Grimsby East told Sky News that it was “very foggy” in the area on Monday morning.

The authorities assume that both ships remain standing. The British transport Minister Heidi Alexander said that the Solong “could be towed off the coast and that the storage could begin”.

It is still unclear how much fuel the sea has reached – the first assessments assume that the effects are limited. Part of the kerosene was burned and evaporated.
