A swimmer was attacked by a shark in the US state of California on Sunday. The 46-year-old was taken to hospital with injuries to his hand, arm and upper body. The beach was closed.
The man’s injuries are not life-threatening and he will recover from the attack, US media said. Lifeguards and other beach visitors probably came to the 56-year-old’s aid.
Attacked during group training
The shark victim was swimming with other people when he came across the predatory fish. Yet no one could see the shark, and the use of drones was also unsuccessful, reports the AP news agency.
The Del Mar area is mainly home to young sharks. The affected beach area will now remain closed until Tuesday.
