The first of two European Championship test matches is scheduled for Tuesday evening: Austria against Serbia. Just in time for the match, Chancellor Karl Nehammer posted a video clip featuring Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on his Facebook page.
As part of an informal thirty-minute conversation between Chancellor Karl Nehammer and Aleksandar Vučić, today’s friendly match was a thematic must-see. “We are very excited, one of our best players – Marco Arnautovic – has Serbian roots,” Nehammer tells Vučić in English in the 23-second clip. A mixture of diplomatic politeness and sporting congratulations.
The Chancellor then tries to speak Serbian: “Srećno!” – in German: “Good luck!” In between there are cutaway images of the Chancellor holding an Austrian scarf into the camera.
The congratulations are answered, Serbian President Nehammer also responds in a foreign language: “Good luck.”
